The body is always changing—and so are the teeth!
As people reach their teenage years, wisdom teeth develop in the back of your mouth, leading to a host of problems. As they take root, they can overcrowd the mouth and damage the surrounding teeth.
Fortunately, at Evolve Dentistry & Aesthetics, we can remove wisdom teeth to minimize the risk of future complications.
If you have problematic wisdom teeth, we have the services you need. To keep your kid’s teeth safe from damage, read on to learn more about our preferred process for wisdom teeth removal in Craven County.
The Removal Process
If you think your child could benefit from wisdom teeth removal, they first need to meet with our team for an initial examination.
Our experts only perform operations on wisdom teeth that have fully sprouted from the mouth. So we can monitor your teenager’s teeth and make a recommendation for the best time to remove them.
If you have wisdom teeth that are fully exposed, and you need a wisdom teeth removal procedure, we schedule an appointment for a time that works best for you.

When you arrive for their appointment, we get you seated and numb the treatment area. Dr. McGowen “scratches” around the gum to make sure they’re numb, then adds pressure to the teeth, pushing them up and out. Occasionally, this procedure requires a suture, but not often. Afterward, we provide post-care instructions so you can return home and heal with confidence.
Recovering After Your Procedure
Following your wisdom teeth removal, you may need a few days to recover. Most patients experience some mild bleeding in the treatment area, but this should resolve itself after about a day.
As the incision sites heal, make sure you’re gentle, especially while eating. Chewing too vigorously and eating hard foods may disturb the blood clots in the incision site, leading to increased bleeding in the area. For this reason, we don’t recommend you use a straw or spitting excessively while they recover.
We recommend you stick to soft foods for at least 24 hours, and follow your provider’s instructions until the healing process is complete.
