Our Process
You’ll meet with Dr. McGowen first to examine your teeth and develop a strategy for your wisdom teeth removal in New Bern. In some cases, the position of the wisdom teeth may need advanced care and we will refer you to an oral surgeon for treatment.
We’ll ensure all areas are numb and that you are as comfortable as possible before beginning treatment. Then Dr. McGowen will carefully extract your wisdom teeth. We’ll explain everything as it is happening to ensure you understand what you’re hearing and know the next steps.
After surgery, you may need a few days to recover. There is typically swelling around the extraction site and minimal bruising may occur.
How We Remove Wisdom Teeth
When we remove wisdom teeth, we start gaining access to the teeth beneath your gums. Once the tooth is accessible, Dr. McGowen will start to remove it. We then carefully conduct the removal process. After your teeth are removed, Dr. McGowen will clean the area and stitch up the gums so they can heal.
