You know what we’re going to say next, but that’s because it’s all true: brushing and flossing your teeth is a great way to remove food particles and bacteria that cause tooth decay and periodontal disease alike. You should brush your teeth at least twice a day and floss at least once a day to minimize the risk of gum disease.

In addition, attending all of your regular teeth cleanings at Evolve will remove even further bacteria and debris from your teeth. Our tools can remove plaque that you just can’t get with home tools. Visiting us for a cleaning every 6 months will clean your teeth and give us a chance to detect gum disease early, before it worsens.

Every patient is different, and the frequency of your treatment depends on how serious your case is, your oral hygiene, and your overall tooth health. In general, we usually recommend 3 to 4 sessions a year to stop the spread of harmful bacteria continuously.

Over time, we’ll closely monitor your gum health and may adjust the treatment schedule as needed. With consistent treatment and diligent care, you can see significant improvements to your gum health. However, it will take care and attention to make these results last.

There’s no major downtime needed after receiving periodontal care in New Bern. You can immediately resume all your normal activities, especially if your appointment was just a maintenance cleaning.
