Our Story
Evolve Dentistry began decades ago when Dr. Kenneth Holton founded his general dentistry practice in the late 1980s. For over 35 years, Dr. Holton was the premier dentist in New Bern. The practice was successful thanks to the support of our community and our dedication to professional, personalized service.
Things change over time, and we’re now known as Evolve Dentistry & Aesthetics. Our new owner, Dr. McGowen, has worked closely with Dr. Holton to continue his legacy of success and innovation as we’ve evolved.
Today, our practice remains the definitive resource for dentistry in the area, and we’ve recently expanded our services to offer even more treatments to improve your quality of life.

General Dentistry
You’ll work with Dr. McGowen and her team of skilled hygienists and assistants for any of our general dentistry services. We use the most innovative techniques and advanced technologies to ensure you receive the most reliable results from every service.
Restorative Dentistry
Sometimes, tooth damage or decay becomes too serious for routine care. In these instances, restorative work may be needed. In many cases, damaged teeth may need to be “capped” with crowns or bridges to prevent future damage. If your tooth roots have been damaged, you may need a root canal to clean out the roots beneath your gum line.
If damaged teeth do need to be removed, we may insert a dental implant to replace the missing tooth with a synthetic alternative that blends in perfectly with your other teeth. We can also custom-design dentures fitted precisely to your mouth when major damage to multiple teeth has occurred.
Cosmetic Dentistry
